• Do I need to be experienced to come kayaking?

    No! We will teach you the basics you need to get going smoothly, all you need is a decent level of fitness!

  • How long will we paddle for each day?

    It depends a bit on things like the weather and group abilities, but generally each day contains about 4 hours of on water time.

  • What hapens if the weather is too rough to paddle?

    If the weather is too rough (ie it is too windy, the waves are too big or it is pouring with rain) we can offer you a full refund or to change to another day.

  • Can I choose to go in a single kayak?

    Sorry! We always put clients in double kayaks because they are more stable, faster, and it is easier to manage the group! your safety is our priority.

  • I'm travelling by myself, am I still able to come kayaking?

    Definitely! We always put customers in double sea kayaks so it will mean you will either be paddling with someone else who made a solo booking, or sharing a kayak with one of our guides.

  • Where can we find the photos the guide was taking?

    The photos from the guides camera get uploaded onto the Coromandel Sea Kayaks facebook page. Just click on albums and search for the date you went paddling with us!

  • Do you provide meals on the Overnight Adventure?

    Food is an optional extra. Please let us know of any dietary requirements you have prior to the trip!

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    If cancellation is made within 48 hours of your tour, a loss of 100% of the total booking price. Our cancellation policy will be displayed prior to booking.

  • Where do the tours depart from?

    The kayaking portion of our tours usually begins at Opito Bay, however depending on which way the wind is blowing, sometimes we mix it up a bit and begin in other locations. Regardless, the van will always leave from the township of Whitianga.

  • Are you in Coromandel Town?

    No, we are based in Whitianga, on the Coromandel Peninsula. Whitianga is approximately a 40min drive from Coromandel Town.

  • Where will we be picked up from?

    We can pick up from anywhere around Whitianga. Common places are the Ferry, the local information centre, your accomodation or down at the beachfront. We will confirm your desired pick up through email after booking.

  • Will we see any wildlife?

    The beautiful thing about the wildlife is it's wild! If you're lucky you can see a range of seabirds, fish, sometimes mammals such as dolphins and seals, and if you're really lucky, the elusive Horseshoe Bay Shrek!
